About Lewesian Joinery
THE WORKSHOP BEHIND THE WORK.
Lewesian Joinery is a small, independent workshop creating bespoke fitted furniture, cabinetry and traditional joinery for homes in and around Lewes. Every project is considered in relation to the property, the space and the people who use it, bringing together thoughtful design, traditional construction and a personal way of working.
MADE IN THE WORKSHOP.
Set in a barn in the countryside near Lewes, with the white cliffs visible in the distance, the workshop has grown gradually alongside the business. It is a practical, evolving space surrounded by other independent makers, where machinery, hand tools and conversation all play their part.

OUR FOUNDER.
JOSH DICKER
I learnt the foundations of making from my grandfather, who was a fine furniture and cabinetmaker. That early influence gave me a lasting respect for sound construction, careful detailing and the value of making things properly. Over the years, those principles have developed into a broad practical skillset across bespoke furniture, fitted cabinetry and traditional joinery.
Alongside the making itself, my background in photography has shaped the way I look at spaces and objects. It has sharpened my eye for proportion, composition, light and the small details that make a piece feel balanced. Combined with two decades of working in timber, this helps me create joinery that is not only well made, but considered in relation to the room around it.
Lewesian Joinery brings these skills together through a personal, hands-on approach. I remain involved throughout each project, from the first conversation and design decisions through to construction and fitting. The result is work that responds closely to the property, the materials and the way each client wants to live.
Based in Lewes, I work with homeowners, designers and other makers across the surrounding area. The town’s historic buildings, independent creative community and nearby countryside continue to influence the way I work, while the workshop remains focused on making thoughtful, durable joinery for contemporary homes.
